Melody Stoltz Resume
Melody has been raised in the dog world all her life. Melody was 14 months when the old family Cocker never left her side as she wondered out of the backyard and over to the neighbors fish pond. Her mother found her by his consistent barking. As her Mother rounded the corner there Melody was trying to push him aside so she could see the fishes. But no way would he let her up to the ponds edge. By age four the family filmed her in the back yard giggling while sharing her watermelon with their young Irish Setter. By age six she was caught clipping all the fur off the sheep skin rug with her Mom’s dog clippers.-well at least it wasn’t off her Mom’s new show poodle Melody’s Father had a blue ribbon winner in 1925 and she still has the ribbons today. Melody won Junior Handling as a child at such shows as Madison Square Garden, Beverly Hills Kennel Club and The Santa Barbara Kennel Club. As a teenager Melody worked for some of the Top Professional Handlers in the U.S.A. She traveled with them all over America and parts of Canada. Later as an adult she handled dogs herself. Melody won the first ever Grooming Competition held in Australia. It was held in Sydney in 1992 called Groomalong. After remarrying and selling up her grooming business her Daughter pushed her into entering just one more competition. In 2004 both Melody and Chenoa entered the PIAA Groomex in Melbourne. Chenoa won 2nd place in Novice (quit a feet being only 13 years old) and to everyone’s delight Melody won the whole thing again. If asked to do it just one more time. “No I don’t think my heart could take it again.” Melody was breeding her own Champions in Italian Greyhounds as well as Toy Poodles by the late 1960’s. The Toy Poodle is in the Toy Group in the U.S.A. so because of this Melody gained her Judges Licence in the Toy Group first, followed by the Poodles in the Non Sporting Group. Melody moved from Hawaii to Australia in 1983 with her Champion Standard Poodles. In 1987 Melody started breeding Toy Poodles once again and registered a new Kennel Prefix with her daughter Chenoa and son Jacy. Her new name was “HOKU” meaning “Star” in Hawaiian. Her other passion that takes her away from the dog scene is Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Paddling. She paddled for the Waikiki Beach Boys Canoe Club for many years and now Paddles and Coaches for Patterson Lakes Outrigger Club. Melody has judged in Australia, the U.S.A., New Zealand, and Ireland. She is committed to the continual betterment and preservation of Pure Bred dogs.
Melody expresses her thanks to the Toy Poodle Society of NSW for her Judges invitation this year and wishes them a wonderful show and a great future.
